How to add Quizzes to Collection Descriptions

You can directly embed the quiz beneath the collection name, similar to this example:

To do this, we need to copy this code inside the collection descriptions:

NOTE: Replace QUIZ_URL_GOES_HERE with the actual URL of your quiz.

To start off, head over to your Shopify admin:

Go to Products -> Collections and select or Create collection you want to show your quiz.

Click "Show HTML"

Paste the code above and don't forget to edit the "QUIZ_URL_GOES_HERE" with the actual URL of your quiz. Click "View" to test your quiz.

How does the match all feature work?

The Match all feature is designed to boost the match score of all products added to the quiz for questions which are only there for data gathering purposes.

As an example we use a quiz where we ask the question 'Are you buying this for yourself or as a gift?'. The answer to this question doesn't impact the product recommendations at all, however we still want the products in the quiz to gain a match score point regardless of the answer selected so for this we enable the Match all toggle:

Please note: Match All is not designed to replace product matching all together. Key products, variants and collections still need to actively be added to the quiz for it to return results.

Why is the product URL not working in my Klaviyo or Lantern emails?

If this is happening it's most likely because your store is ether password protected or a development store. In these scenarios, both Klaviyo and Lantern won't be able to receive or access the product URL information and this will not be included in the body of your product recommendation emails.

Temporarily disabling the password will allow you to test the emails and check the product URL is included.

Does Lantern work with Shopify Plus?

Yes, Lantern can be used with any Shopify plan.

How can I make a quiz inactive?

There is no need to make a quiz inactive, instead what you need to do is remove it from your store. The reason why we haven't added a 'disable' or 'deactivate' button is because making a quiz inactive is not enough, it has to be removed from the website.

For instance, if you've added the quiz to your store via a navigation menu item, that item remains in the nav menu even if the quiz link is not working.

The same applies to pop-ups and embeds - any associated buttons or app blocks would still be present within the theme.

However, if the quiz is removed from the store, no one can view or take it so it's the equivalent of it being disabled/inactive.

How can I get started with Lantern?

To get started we suggest following our Getting Started guide. This will help you to get up and running in no time! The only requirement is that you need to have a Shopify store.

Why am I not seeing just perfect score products?

By default, Lantern will display the quiz results based on their overall match score.

This is calculated based on how often a product was matched with the answers chosen by your customers, so an imperfect score means that your customers picked certain answers where that product was not linked as a match.

How can I segment the customers that complete my quiz?

Integrating with Kaviyo is a great way to take full advantage of your customers' responses. Lantern sends all of the quiz data ( both the answers selected throughout and the products recommended at the end) to Klaviyo, allowing you to create complex audience segments and highly targeted email campaigns.

By exporting quiz answers as properties in Klaviyo, you can segment your audience based on their quiz results and send personalized follow-up emails. To learn more about creating Klaviyo Segments using quiz information this please check out this help article.

How can I add a video in the results e-mail?

To add a video to the results email, you can use the HTML video tag.

Here's an example for how to add a video:

Make sure to replace "video.mp4" with the URL or file path of the video you want to include. You can also adjust the width and height values to fit your needs.

Note that some email clients may not support video playback, so it's important to include a message in the email that lets the recipient know that there's a video to watch and provides a link to view it in a browser if necessary.

It is important to note that adding a video to the results email using HTML and CSS requires a certain level of proficiency in coding. If you are not experienced in writing code, it is recommended that you seek assistance.

Additionally, when editing the email template, it’s important to be careful not to accidentally delete or write over any existing code, as this may cause issues with the email's formatting or functionality.

Always make a backup of your template before making any changes to ensure that you can easily revert back to the original version if needed.

How can I display out-of-stock products?

Lantern can show Out of Stock products as quiz results. To access this go to Results Page in the left hand-side menu and on the right-side menu under Show/Hide Elements, you will see Show sold out products that you can enable.

How can I turn off the match score feature?

You can now remove the match feature from the Results Page inside the quiz flow editor.

On the right-hand side menu under Product Recommendations drop-down menu, you will find Match Score Format settings. From the drop-down menu, select the hide option:

Please don't forget to republish your quiz to make sure the changes go live.

How can I remove the ‘No thanks’ option from email collection?

You can do this from the Email Capture Page inside the Quiz Builder by choosing Hide in the ’No Thanks / Opt-In Skip Link’ drop-down button.

How can I get email addresses for the customers that completed the quiz?

You don’t need to have a Klaviyo or Mailchimp account to capture emails, but they also don’t automatically get saved in Shopify either.

In order to get a list of all email addresses for customers that have completed your quiz you can

Go to Reporting→Sessions

2. From Sessions, select a quiz you want or select All, choose your date range and click the Export to CSV button.

3. Inside the CSV file, delete all columns apart from Email.

4. Remove duplicates from the Email column to be left with unique email addresses.

You can then use this CSV to upload email addresses into any email management account that you use including Shopify Email.

We also have a really useful support article that shows you how you can set up and customize the built-in Lantern Email editor so you can still send your customers personalized emails with their quiz results without needing a Klaviyo or Mailchimp account.

How to collect customers’ phone numbers or names as part of the quiz?

You can collect customers names and phone numbers using Customer Input questions. You can add these by clicking the +Add page button on the right hand side menu, at the bottom of your existing questions.

As with any new question you add to the quiz, you can reposition it anywhere you like. By default these are required to be completed, however you can make this optional.

Unlike standard quiz questions, input field questions do not impact the product match score.

What eCommerce systems does Lantern support?

Currently, Lantern supports stores running on the Shopify platform.

How do I remove the logo from my quiz?

You can remove the logo from Theme Settings. Once an image has been uploaded, you'll be able to see a remove logo button underneath:

Can I create multiple quizzes?

Yes, you can create as many quizzes (with as many questions) as you like!

What is considered a quiz?

In Lantern, a quiz is defined as a series of questions that results in personalized product recommendations.

Are RTL (right-to-left) languages supported?

We offer full support for right-to-left scripts, the following RTL languages are supported when creating your own translations:

Southern Balochi, بلوچی مکرانی
Sorani, کوردی
Persian, فارسی
Gilaki, گیلکی
Hebrew, עברית

How can I sort quiz results?

By default, results will be displayed to your customers based on their match score. You can determine which results to show 1st if the match score if the same for several recommended products is the same.

You can sort results with equal match scores in alphabetical or reverse alphabetical order, in price order or randomly.

How do I set up the recommended products?

When setting up the quiz, you can match your Shopify products or variants to the answer options in each question or build your results page using dynamic content blocks.

What tools do you integrate with?

Can I use my own brand assets?

Yes, you can use your own branding for the flows. When configuring the flow you can choose the colors, logo, font, and more!

Check these settings out by clicking on the "Theme Settings" button on the bottom left of the Quiz Builder!

How can I link variants of a product?

With Lantern you can link specific product variants in your quizzes, which means you can create even more tailored quiz experiences for your customers.

To start adding product variants for each answer click Link Variants. This will open up a list of all the products with variants in your store.

You can filter these by their title, using the search bar or by their tags. To filter using tags enter the following in the search bar tag:xyz where 'xyz' is the actual tag applied to your products.

Can I tag orders generated through a quiz?

All orders generated through a quiz are now automatically tagged with "Lantern Quiz" for better attribution and easier filtering.

What languages are supported?

You can use any possible language by creating your own translations, including full support for "Right-to-Left" languages.

The following languages are already available by default and do not have to be translated yourself: English, Dutch. Learn more about translating your quiz here.

How can I add a favicon to my quiz?

In order to add the favicon to your quiz, you will need to click the Edit Quiz icon to be inside the quiz editor.

Go to Settings, and under SEO Settings you will see Favicon. Here you can paste the link for your favicon and Save your changes.

Don't forget to click next and Republish the quiz. Your favicon will now be displayed next to your quiz URL in the browser.

Can the app support multi-language quizzes?

This very much depends on which translation app you use for your store and whether or not it has an option to display different URLs or app block keys depending on the translation.

The only translation app that we found that works perfectly with our app currently is Langify as it has the ability to display different URLs, pop-ups and even embeds depending on the translation chosen by the customer.

One quiz can only support one language so if you're using a different app to Langify, you'd need to find a way to offer both quiz options in the same place so that the customers can choose their translations.

Some of our users do this using a drop down nav meu element. We are looking at adding integrations with Weglot and Shopify's Translate and Adapt to allow for the one quiz to be translated in the same way as the Shopify store content but we currently have no specific date for when this will be available.
