These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the Lantern application and related services.
1. About Lantern
Lantern is a Shopify application developed and operated by App Attic Ltd, a company registered in the United Kingdom.
Lantern is made available exclusively through the Shopify App Store and is designed to be used by merchants operating Shopify stores.
2. Relationship With Shopify
Lantern is a third-party application for Shopify.
- You do not enter into a separate contract with App Attic Ltd by installing or using Lantern.
- Your agreement for billing, subscriptions, cancellations, refunds, and account access is with Shopify.
- Lantern does not create merchant accounts, process payments, or manage subscriptions directly.
- Lantern operates in accordance with the Shopify Partner Agreement.
- If there is any conflict between these Terms and Shopify’s terms, Shopify’s terms take precedence.
3. Eligibility and Access
You may use Lantern only if:
- You have a valid Shopify store
- You have authority to install apps on that store
- You comply with Shopify’s terms and policies
Features and functionality may vary depending on your selected plan and Shopify account status.
4. Description of the Services
Lantern provides tools that allow merchants to create, publish, and manage interactive product quizzes and related storefront components.
Lantern does not guarantee:
- Increased sales, conversion rates, revenue, or average order value
- Specific performance outcomes or business results
All results depend on merchant configuration, products, traffic, and external factors.
5. Data Processing and Privacy
Roles and responsibilities
When you use Lantern, you act as the data controller for any personal data collected from your customers or users through quizzes or storefront components. App Attic Ltd acts as a data processor and processes personal data only on your behalf and in accordance with your instructions, including how you configure and use the Services.
How we process data
We process personal data solely to provide, operate, secure, and support the Services, including hosting quizzes, displaying results, enabling integrations you choose, providing analytics, and responding to support requests. We do not sell personal data.
Data storage and location
Personal data processed through Lantern is stored on servers located in the European Union. Access to personal data may be provided to authorised personnel or service providers from other locations solely for support, maintenance, or operational purposes, subject to appropriate security and confidentiality controls.
International access and transfers
Where personal data is accessed from or transferred to locations outside the UK or European Union, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with applicable data protection laws. When you enable third-party integrations, you instruct us to share data with those providers, and their processing locations and safeguards are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
Special category data
You control whether special category or sensitive personal data is collected through your use of the Services. If you choose to collect such data, you confirm that you have a lawful basis to do so. We process special category data only on your behalf, under your instructions, and solely to provide the Services.
Security and confidentiality
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, or disclosure. Personnel authorised to process personal data are subject to confidentiality obligations.
Data subject requests and assistance
You are responsible for responding to requests from individuals regarding their personal data. We will provide reasonable assistance, where required, to help you meet your obligations under applicable data protection laws.
Personal data breaches
If we become aware of a personal data breach affecting data processed through the Services, we will notify you without undue delay and provide information reasonably necessary to support your compliance obligations.
Deletion and retention
We retain personal data associated with your use of the Services after uninstallation to support reinstallation, account continuity, and service reactivation. This allows you to stop and restart use of Lantern without loss of configuration or historical data.
Personal data is retained only for as long as we have a legitimate business purpose to do so and in accordance with our retention practices described in our Privacy Policy.
You may request deletion of personal data at any time after uninstalling the Services. Upon receiving a valid deletion request from you, we will delete or anonymise the relevant personal data, unless retention is required by law.

6. Merchant Responsibilities
You are solely responsible for:
- Quiz content, logic, and configuration
- Product recommendations and pricing accuracy
- Compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Obtaining any required customer consents
- Decisions made based on quiz results or analytics
Lantern does not provide legal, compliance, or business advice.
7. Third-Party Services and Integrations
Lantern may integrate with third-party services (for example email, SMS, analytics, or subscription tools).
- These services are operated by third parties, not App Attic Ltd.
- Lantern is not responsible for their availability, performance, security, or data practices.
- Your use of third-party services is governed by their own terms.
8. Accessibility Disclaimer and Merchant Responsibility
Accessibility.
The Services, including quizzes, widgets, embeds, and storefront components, are provided on an “as-is” basis. We do not represent or warrant that the Services comply with any accessibility laws, regulations, or standards, including but not limited to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), WCAG 2.0, 2.1, or 2.2, Section 508, or any similar laws or guidelines.
You acknowledge and agree that you are solely responsible for ensuring that your storefront, content, and customer experience comply with all applicable accessibility requirements. This includes evaluating whether the Services meet your needs and implementing any necessary modifications, alternative experiences, or accommodations.
No Accessibility Claims.
Unless expressly stated by us in writing, we make no claims regarding the accessibility of the Services and do not guarantee screen-reader compatibility, keyboard navigation, or support for assistive technologies.
9. Intellectual Property
All intellectual property rights in Lantern, including the application, code, branding, and documentation, belong to App Attic Ltd.
You retain ownership of your content, products, and data.
You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Lantern while it is installed on your Shopify store.
10. Acceptable Use
You may not:
- Use Lantern for unlawful, misleading, or harmful purposes
- Attempt to copy, reverse engineer, or interfere with the app
- Circumvent technical limitations or security measures
11. Availability and Changes
Lantern is provided on an “as-is” and “as-available” basis.
We may:
- Update or modify features
- Add or remove functionality
- Temporarily suspend access for maintenance or compliance reasons
We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- App Attic Ltd is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses
- We are not liable for loss of revenue, profits, data, or business opportunities
- We are not liable for outcomes resulting from your use of the Services
Nothing in these Terms limits liability where it cannot be excluded by law.
13. Termination
You may stop using Lantern at any time by uninstalling the app through Shopify.
Access to the Services ends when:
- The app is uninstalled
- Your Shopify account is suspended or terminated
- Access is restricted to comply with legal or platform requirements
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time.
Continued use of Lantern after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
